In the highly anticipated film “Kalki 2898 AD,” Amitabh Bachchan’s character has been leaked, creating a buzz among fans. Portraying the immortal Ashwatthama, Bachchan’s role adds a layer of intrigue to the already star-studded cast.
The announcement came through a teaser promo shared by the film’s makers on Star Sports. In the promo, Bachchan, draped in yellow attire, is depicted praying before a Shiva linga within a cave setting. When questioned by a child about his identity, he responds, “Since ancient times, I have awaited the arrival of the Avatar. I am Guru Drona’s son. Ashwatthama.”
Bachchan himself took to his X account to express his thoughts on working on the project, describing it as an unparalleled experience. He reflected, “It’s been an experience for me like no other… The mind to think such a product, the execution, the exposure to modern technology, and above all the company of colleagues with stratospheric Superstar presence…”
“Kalki 2898 AD” is a sci-fi extravaganza featuring Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, and Kamal Haasan in pivotal roles. A new poster unveiled on Maha Shivaratri disclosed Prabhas’s character name as Bhairava. The film is set to hit screens on May 9.
Director Nag Ashwin shed light on the film’s concept at the Synapse 2024 event in Gurgaon, explaining its unique blend of mythology and futuristic narrative. “The film starts with Mahabharat and ends in 2898 AD. It spans 6000 years in time. We tried to create worlds, imagining what they would be like while still keeping it Indian, and not make it look like Blade Runner,” he elucidated.
